Most of Harewood was covered with a thick layer of fog again today.
All of Nanaimo and much of Vancouver Island has been repeatedly hit with heavy, low-hanging mists for several weeks.
But why?
CHLY Radio has the answers in their recent article, "What is up with all this fog in Nanaimo?":
“The reason why we have all this fog is that the air, because it's dropping in temperature at nighttime, it simply can't hold all that moisture that's in the air, and so we can develop all this fog. That kind of fog is called radiation fog.” Jeff Lewis, professor of geography at Vancouver Island University, says in the article.
"These high-pressure systems that sit over top of us are not unusual. They can often sit over us for four or five days or a week. If this stays for much longer than that, then it starts to become more unusual.”
Stay safe out there folks – and try not to bump into anything!
